World Cancer Day is observed worldwide on February 4 every year to raise awareness for a cancer-free society. Aligned with the theme for this year – Close the Care Gap – Barpeta Cancer Centre organised a rally with the aim to raise awareness on early detection, treatment, and prevention of cancer. Dr Ramen Talukdar - Principal, Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital, Barpeta - inaugurated the rally and addressed the participants. He shared his valuable insights on importance of Word Cancer Day and appreciated the contribution of health staff of Barpeta centre. He was accompanied by Dr Partha Pratim Baruah, Superintendent, FAAMCH; Dr Ridipta Shekhar Das; Mr Rajib Medhi - District Programme Manager, NHM Barpeta; and Mr Mujamil Haque - District Programme, NHM, Barpeta. The rally, starting from Barpeta Cancer Centre to Jania Road Tiniali, witnessed about 150 participants. They distributed pamphlets to educate people on how to detect early signs and symptoms of cancer, and where to seek help. With unparallel zeal and enthusiasm of the participants, the initiative was an impactful and praise-worthy step towards spreading cancer awareness and promoting the importance of noticing early signs, treatment, and precautions.
